SO YOU WANNA BE A RACER?

Read through this simple process to give you an idea of where to start. We are here to answer your questions and help get you out on the track. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us (Facebook is best).

HAVE A PLAN

Plan YOUR race program. Set a budget and define goals. Know what is is that you want to get out of it. Do you want to just try racing once to see what it’s like? Do you want to just become a better rider? Do you want to go all in and build a state of the art superbike? It’s up to you. There is no limit to how much time, money, and effort you can put into motorcycle racing.

READ THE RULEBOOK

Read it. The whole thing. Our whole organization runs on the rulebook. If you have a question, it probably has the answer. Bike specifications by class, procedures, safety and tech info -- it’s all there. Knowing the rule book will ensure a smoother race season and put you a step ahead of those who don’t.

PREPARATION

Build your bike(s) to the minimum specifications for the classes you wish to race. This is the perfect time to be reaching out to sponsors. You’d be surprised at the amount of companies that offer a discount on parts and gear to racers. Just ask/apply. You should also prepare your body and mind. Start a regular exercise routine and conditioning to prepare your body for the season. Racing is hard work.

GET YOUR LICENSE (maybe)

If your plan is to take the Street GP course you don’t need a license. We do this to provide an inexpensive way to get you on the track with minimal commitment. If you are all in and are going for full day racing you will need a license. THESE racers are required to take a New Racer Certification (NRC) course prior to purchasing a license. There are only 2 NRC’s per season so don’t miss them if you plan on racing. Check our Schools page for NRC dates.

REGISTRATION

To register online create a free account at motorsportreg.com. Click on the appropriate link from our events complete signing up for a race round. Register early and register for everything that you qualify for. We offer a $50 discount for early registration and our flat fee racing structure allows you to race for as many races as you want for one price. More bang for your buck. There is no early registration discount for Street GP.

RACE DAY!

Perfect Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. Arrive early. Check in and get your bike teched. Get set up early. A race day will fly by in an instant. Know your schedule. Make garage friends that are racing the same classes as you. Stay hydrated and breathe. Remember, it’s fun. Don’t forget to smile. Go fast!

THE UTAH MOTORCYCLE LAW MASTERS OF
THE MOUNTAINS
RACE SERIES

This MoM is operated and sanctioned by the UtahSBA and run exclusively at Utah Motorsports Campus in Grantsville, Utah. The series was created to encourage competitive motorcycle road racing at the club and regional levels, drawing racers from across the United States and Canada. The six-round season typically has events once per month, with a two day schedule combining morning practice sessions and afternoon racing.

Racing requires holding a valid race license and meeting all safety/rulebook requirements. If you are serious about getting into racing talk to a UtahSBA member or reach out to us on Facebook.

STREET
GP

THE MOST AFFORDABLE WAY TO GET ON THE TRACK

Street GP is an opportunity for street riders, canyon chasers, and track day junkies to participate in a real racing event with the UtahSBA at Utah Motorsports Campus. It’s a fraction of the cost of licensed racing but all the fun. It’s the real deal.

LOWER COST

For $125 you get several morning practice sessions, practice starts, and finish with a multi-lap race! No race license is required.

LESS PREP

Only track-day bike prep is required. Race leathers, boots, gauntlets, and a full face DOT helmet are required. Read the rule book for full requirements.
